“ yummy yummy in my tummy! i got combo c which includes pork belly, pork shoulder, skirt meat, and pork jowl. the first two meats that came out were pork belly and pork shoulder. i ljked the shoulder more. they grill it for u and its definitely an experience that takes time before you can eat. after they are done grilling they put it on a rack above the grill. i LOVED this because as u go through the meat, it gets even crispier and stays hot and juicy. there was also cheese with this and i think its called halumi cheese but it was very yummy and i wish there was more!! it was only like 4 slices. next round was skirt meat and pork jowl. the skirt meat didnt impress me but the pork jowl was good when it was crispy. the banchans that are offered are pretty different than the other kbbq spots in oc and im not complaining because it is authentic korean side dishes. however they were just not my preference personally. i did enjoy their garlic oil and salt for dipping the meats in. we also got their tofu soup and it was delicious ! workers were so super nice and attentive. it is a very calm atmosphere which is different than most kbbq spots on this street. although on the pricier side, pork fans should definitely check this place out. i would suggest pork belly and shoulder the most! ”
“ Dinner was amazing! Food, service, everything. Combo B for the two of us was perfect. The pork belly was definitely the highlight, as was our server, Joo--He was so welcoming, kind, and attentive. 5 stars just for him! I would definitely recommend Sookdal. We loved it even more the second time around :) ”
“ Wow was I happy to try out this place! The differentiating factor of this KBBQ place compared to others is the focus of their pork products, which I assumed was a must try. Therefore, we ordered Combo B to try the pork belly and pork jowl. Alongside the meat, you're given a stew (kimchi or soybean paste) in the combos. We also got a side of beef brisket to try. Here's my thoughts on the food overall: - Pork jowl + pork belly: Both were amazing! 10/10. The pork belly itself was sooooooo good and really great quality. Pork jowl was cooked perfectly and not too tough (which sometimes it can be in general) - Beef brisket: It was good and thinly sliced, but wouldn't have to order again. 7/10. - Soybean paste stew: 10/10 o m g their paste was amazing. Perfectly flavorful! - Risotto: Also 10/10 would try and get a side of their risotto. There's a bit of a spicy kick to it so if you're not a fan of spicy, don't order lol. Great service and btw they cook the meat for you! I also loved how they have a display of 6 different ways you can eat their meat. Really cool and different, especially with the marinated wild garlic leaves they provide on the side (which I recommend trying if you haven't before like me). We went on a Sunday night and there was no line so definitely a great spot. ”
“ Why bother waiting two hours in K-town when you can get just as good, if not better, quality right here? This place offers an incredible Korean BBQ experience without the long wait times. While the beef skirt steak was just okay, everything else in Combo B was absolutely fantastic. The real standout for me was the bonchon--it had a unique twist that set it apart from the typical offerings you get with KBBQ. I was especially impressed with the wasabi and leaf with meat--it was a bold and delicious combination I've never had before. The pork belly and pork jowl were cooked to perfection, and the side dishes like the bean sprout soup and kimchi soup were superb. Everything was flavorful and fresh, making for an unforgettable meal. I'll definitely be coming back to try more of the menu and highly recommend this spot for anyone craving quality Korean BBQ without the hassle. ”
“ Amazing food!! They really focus on good quality meat here and the pickled sides complement the beef and pork well. The pork belly is the best I've had in OC since it's tender and thick. The servers are great and efficient, without rushing you to finish all the meat super quickly. We felt like we could actually enjoy ourselves and take our time savoring each type of meat. Can't wait to come back! ”
“ I have been seeing this place on yelp for quite some time and my hubby and I decided to check it out! We were not disappointed. We got the combo C and all the meats were delicious! They cook for you here and we never had to ask for banchans to be filled up. The ambience was very mom and pop vibe/ hole in the wall , but super cozy! i definitely recommend this place to pork belly lovers!! It is so good! PS : They give you a sticker listing the age of the pork, how many days it was aged, how the age process was ; wet or dry aged , and who was the chef in charge of the aging process. I thought this was very cool! ”
“ Sookdal is one of our favorite Korean BBQ places ever! We generally pick from one of their meat combos, which are primarily pork with one type of beef. What sets Sookdal apart are their banchan. They never rotate but they are perfect in every way. On one plate are the cucumbers, sitting next to bright pink cabbage and beets, and chrysanthemum stems. On another plate are my favorite, wild garlic leaves. The banchan are both sweet and salty, and are the perfect acidic foil to the grilled meats. With traditional kimchi, they really wake up the palate. All means also come with their doenjang chigae (bean paste soup) which is so much better made than anywhere else with a balanced soup and well sized variety of vegetables, a starter soup of soybean broth that is mild and comforting. Another dish we love ordering separately is the risotto. It's creamy and luxurious and I love the toppings of finely minced jalapeno and tobiko. When mixed in, you get the grassy flavor of the raw pepper and the slight, briny pop of the eggs and it elevates the rice. The meats are all wonderful. We are partial to the thin cut pork belly but they are all good. The little portion of grilled cheese and pineapple that are grilled alongside the meats are not to be overlooked - they are addictive too! It's a Korean BBQ place unlike any other and once you try it, you'll fall in love too. ”
“ Sookdal is my favorite KBBQ spot for pork. The pork here is absolutely delicious and high quality, I've come here twice already and each time it doesn't disappoint. My go to order is the combo C which comes with types of meat pork belly, pork shoulder, pork jowl, skirt, kim chi soup and cheese. The pork belly is so tender and juicy. I usually end up ordering another portion of pork belly since its so good. All the meat goes well with the sides of pickled veggies. Also the best part is that they cook for you, so you can just sit back relax and sip on beer or soju. The service and meat quality here is A++. ”
“ Combo A: 5/5 the meats were tasty and I loved experimenting with different tastes with the various sides that were provided Service was incredible and not once did I need to hunt down my server ”
